Emerson Hyndman and Jon Toral have both been reflecting on Pedro Caixinha’s first victory over Hamilton Academicals at the weekend.

With it being Caixinha’s first match in charge, goals from Hyndman, Clint Hill, Martyn Waghorn and Lee Wallace gave us the comfortable four nil victory on the day, and Hyndman felt it had been the perfect start for the new gaffer and the perfect response to his appointment from the players.

Speaking to the Official Site in his own post game press conference with the American opening the scoring on the day, he explained.

‘It was a good start and we have been working hard during the week with people trying to impress him as well as trying to improve as a team. It was a good week of training, and it showed. He has come in and really told us what he wants from the beginning and what he expects. Everyone is onboard with him and some of the patterns of play in the game today, we worked on in training. So it`s slowly improving, but it`s a good start. He prepared us very well, and made sure we all knew what we were doing. He himself, he didn`t want to change too much, but at the same time, I thought his changes were excellent and really drove us forward.’

As for his opening goal itself, it went on to joke that he didn’t remember much about it but he was certainly pleased with how his loan spell from Bournemouth was going so far.

‘I can`t remember much about it! I do remember it was a good move with great combination play, and I got my foot on the end of it thankfully. It`s always nice to score goals, and when you come to a new club you want to start off straight away. I am just happy to get the chances and hopefully that continues. I am joining a massive club with high expectations, and you need to go out every week and perform. There are no exceptions and I am enjoying the challenge, so we just need to carry it on.’

As for Toral who put in the corner for Hill to double our advantage on the day, in his own interviews he admitted it came straight off the training pitch as they had been working on dead ball situations during the week.

‘It was something we have worked on during the week, and it was a great finish from Clint. It`s been a great week and training from the lads has been spot-on. Everyone has welcomed the new manager, and it showed during the training sessions and today with the game. It was great and a strong start. We are very happy for all of the staff and we`re delighted to keep the momentum we had under Graeme Murty going. We worked on things during the week, and the boys bedded in really well and understood what he wanted from us. We are going to get better as the weeks go on as well.’

With Toral playing deeper than he would’ve expected prior to arriving at the club, he felt he’d had an enjoyable afternoon alongside Jason Holt.

‘I have played there in the last few weeks, and this time I had Jason in there with me. It was good and I felt comfortable, and I just try to help the team where I can.’

With the international break upon us, Toral went on to say it was the perfect time to get to know the new man better and adjust to his ideas but the start had been perfect for confidence.

‘We feel good. The momentum is going our way, so we need to keep going. The international break gives us two weeks until the next game, so the manager will be able to work with us and we have time to work on the training pitch to keep getting on. It`s a great time as we are building momentum and there are plenty of league games left and the cup as well which we are looking forward to.’
