It’s fair to say that Steven Gerrard has got Rangers playing well at present. The Gers have been a little bit inconsistent throughout the season, but on their day they’re brilliant, and it was certainly their day on Sunday.

For the second time in a week, Rangers were able to score five to beat their opponents, with their tie against Hamilton ending 5-0 in favour of Gerrard’s men.

Since the game, Hamilton manager Brian Rice has heaped praise upon Gerrard, with a Pep Guardiola comparison seemingly coming his way.

As per the Daily Mail, he said: “I am inspired. I am really inspired. I went home last night and sat and watched the game. Mainly I was looking at my own team to see what we did wrong and what we didn’t do properly, then I was watching Rangers, their movement, their passes, what everybody was doing and ‘wow, this is great, I love that’.”

He continued: “I will use that. People use Barcelona and Manchester City, what I saw off Rangers yesterday, there is a bit of that, that I will use. Players need to see that.”

Essentially, he’s saying that whilst most use Barcelona and Man City as the measuring stick for gameplay, he’ll be using Rangers’ performance in the same way.

Of course, Pep Guardiola has built the footballing foundations of both Barcelona and Man City in recent years, and so this is high praise. The Gers aren’t quite dominating like Guardiola’s teams do, but on their day, they’re just as deadly.

Now, of course, Gerrard has a long way to go, and he’ll have to prove himself against far tricker opponents, but the signs are good. Managers are already recognising the managerial prowess that the Englishman has – and that bodes well for the future.

If we’re able to perform like we did on Sunday every week, it’s only a matter of time before the SPFL title comes our way.
