Rangers are looking to ‘finish the job’ against Hibernian on Saturday to leave us just one tie with Motherwell from completing our rise back into the Scottish Premiership.

A two-nil lead from the first leg enhances these chances but the game isn’t over yet and we’ve still got work to do in order to make sure of this at Easter Road, Hibernian are down but not yet out!

Our chances are, you have to say, improved further by the news that we come into this tie without any ‘new injury concerns.’ At least none have been announced.

Seb Faure (knee) and Gael Bigirimana (infection) continue to sit out but Stuart McCall has laid out his intentions, which might be to ‘defend well’ but the best form of defence is attack so we’re looking for more goal.

‘My philosophy will be that we have to defend well but we need to carry an attacking threat and we can’t sit in and give up ground or territory.

‘In our eyes we’re going there to hopefully score a goal which would mean they need to get at least three.’

Hibernian also come into this without any ‘fresh injury concerns’ reported, with it likely the same squad will be selected by Alan Stubbs.

An early goal either way changes the whole outlook of this, if we manage one then that should be that but if it’s Hibernian then nerves start to jangle. Quite simply, like the ΒΌ final with Queen of the South, we know that if we avoid defeat it’s job done but we should be approaching this, as McCall said, with a positive mindset….

Will we see Hibernian off to book a date with Motherwell?
