Rangers have been incredibly active in the transfer window, and it seems that Steven Gerrard’s overhaul of the squad is poised to continue. One criterion that the Liverpool legend has targeted is experience, and another target that reinforces this view is Stoke City’s, Darren Fletcher. It’s rumoured that the Gers are readying a bid for the Manchester United hero.

According to the Stoke Sentinel, Rangers are preparing a bid for Darren Fletcher. The 34-year-old only joined Stoke from West Brom on a free transfer last summer, since their relegation to the Championship, the Scottish midfielder could choose to seek pastures new. Rangers are allegedly contemplating a move for the experienced midfielder; would he be a good addition for the Gers?

One of Fletcher’s primary qualities is his extensive experience, the midfielder has won every major honour available to him during his illustrious career, and that winning mentality would be of tremendous benefit to Steven Gerrard and Rangers as they seek to disrupt Celtic’s domination. Moreover, Fletcher’s know-how and intelligence could be utilised to mentor the younger players at the club, in a bid to aid their progression with the Gers.

Despite approaching the latter stages of his career, he could still be of great importance to Rangers. Fletcher is acknowledged as an accomplished passer of the ball, and he also displays sound defensive qualities. He is incredibly selfless on the pitch and is widely appreciated for his ceaseless work ethic.

His substantial experience will be of tremendous importance to Rangers.
