Rangers supporters liked the look of midfielder Eetu Vertainen during yesterday’s friendly against Helsinki.
The Finnish team were in town as part of the deal that saw Alfredo Morelos arrive at the club in 2017, with Steven Gerrard’s side running out 3-2 winners.
It became a useful opportunity for the manager to give minutes to his first-team squad after the winter break, in the wake of Friday’s postponed Scottish Cup clash away to Cowdenbeath.
Fans were generally pleased with the result and performance, but rather Jermain Defoe or Steven Davis, many were left most impressed by Helsinki’s 19-year-old attacking midfielder Vertainen.
Having managed to bag an excellent signing in Morelos, should we now move for another young star at the Finns?
Supporters enjoyed his composed and mature display, feeling that he could eventually compete for a starting place in Gerrard’s team.
Did he also catch the eye of the manager?
These fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on his performance…

Rangers need to look at that Vertainen number 36 for Helsinki only 19 years old, played well for them today.

Apparently Vertainen’s contrct is up at the end of 2019. A sneaky pre-contract in the summer would be tasty.

When are we signing Vertainen?

Good runout. Helsinki were pretty decent opponents and a good test. Some decent performances throughout our team.
Great to see Davis back in Blue.
Announce Vertainen!
