It has been revealed this evening that Filip Helander has been omitted from Rangers Europa League squad.

The Swedish international has now returned to full training, but he will take no part in the double header against Borussia Dortmund later this month.

Another exit from the panel is Ianis Hagi, given that his own knee injury issue has ruled him out for the rest of the season. Nathan Patterson and Juninho Bacuna are removed given their departure from the club last month, whilst there is no place for Cedric Itten or Jack Simpson.

Coming in to the squad is marquee signing Aaron Ramsey, as well as Amad Diallo and James Sands

Priority

Whilst this news has caused some to question how long Helander will be unavailable for, it is absolutely the right decision. The towering central defender should be competing for a place in the team within the next two weeks but he will not be in a position to be playing two games per week, certainly not this month.

The main focus is the Premiership and the title race that we are in, so there’s no need to fret on this one.

Leon Balogun had a decent showing on his return at Parkhead last night so overall, the picture in central defence should be an improving one this month.
