This Sunday, Hearts and Rangers players will join forces to support a very worthy charity cause.

In the build up to the game, both squads will wear specially produced t-shirts in the warm-up to raise awareness for MND.

In recent times, both clubs and their support bases have been touched with the horrible and cruel reality of motor-neurone disease with the loss of Marius Zaliukas and Fernando Ricksen, as well as David Hagen who also played for both clubs.

The Jambos players will wear a t-shirt with the number 26 on prominent display in memory of Zaliukas, who also had a spell at Ibrox under Ally McCoist, whilst the Gers will wear the number 2 on their shirts in memory of the popular Dutchman, Ricksen.

Bucket collectors will be positioned all over Tynecastle in the vicinity of all four stands, with fans asked to chip in toward the fight against MND.

Well received

This is a great example of how football and fans passion can be harnessed to help good causes.

Both Hearts and Rangers supporters have previously honoured and continue to support the memory of players like Zaliukas and Ricksen who captured the imagination in their time in Scotland. A gesture like this during the warm-ups is an appropriate intiative before the teams do battle for three vital Premiership points in what is sure to be a keenly contested match.

THose who are not going to the game on Sunday can also donate to the cause by texting CUREMND to 70660 for the price/donation of £5.
