‘He was outstanding’ – Man United legend showers praise on Rangers man

|

BBC pundit Paul Ince was left stunned by the performance of on-loan Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty at the weekend after his starring role in Shrewsbury Town’s FA Cup draw against Wolves.

The League One outfit shocked the Premier League big boys with an excellent display, drawing 2-2 and forcing a replay next Tuesday night.

Docherty was instrumental to the performance and scored a stunning goal, bringing his tally for the season to eight.

Man United legend Ince was bowled over and believes Gerrard should bring him back to Rangers as soon as possible.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the former England star said:

He was fantastic all game and he’s on loan from Rangers, and if Stevie G is watching this performance then he will be dragging him back.

I thought he was outstanding, not just defensively but offensively, breaking forward, hitting shots, he has a fantastic strike on him.

I loved to see players making this bursting runs, cuts inside, takes slight deflection and (John) Ruddy has absolutely no chance.

High praise indeed from one of the most prominent midfielders of his generation.

They are comments that are sure to ramp up the hype on Docherty’s return.

It looks like the former Hamilton man will be staying in England until the end of the season but fans are delighted with his progress and can’t wait to see him try and make an impact in Steven Gerrard’s first-team squad when he returns.
