Steven Gerrard has inspired Rangers to our latest fantastic European result with a 2-2 draw away to La Liga side Villarreal this evening.
The Gers went behind in the match twice across the 90 minutes but goals from Scott Arfield and Kyle Lafferty ensured our group stage campaign in the UEFA Europa League got off to a great start with a point.
It’s a huge result and ensures we continue our momentum heading into the rest of the competition, after an excellent qualifying run.
One of the big talking points coming out of the match was the substitute performance from Glenn Middleton, who provided a key attacking spark just when we needed it in the wake of the Spaniard’s second goal.
He combined with Borna Barisic, who crossed superbly for Lafferty to finish.
The teenager is gathering rave reviews nearly every time he comes on the pitch and many are now calling for him to start in the weeks and months ahead.
He’s yet to make an appearance from the start for the club, making 10 from the bench.
These supporters took to Twitter to share their thoughts…
Genuinely don't think there's a rangers winger on better form than Middleton…surely deserves a start soon?

We're getting to the point where we need to unleash Middleton, proving more effective than any wide player we have and has to be close to a first 11 pick
