‘Has to keep his place’ – Rangers fans want to see more of one player despite defeat

Glenn Middleton celebrates scoring for Rangers

Steven Gerrard’s Rangers missed a chance to pick up a famous result away to Spartak Moscow on Thursday night, eventually losing 4-3 in UEFA Europa League action.

Having led the group after the first three fixtures, hopes were high of a positive result in Russia but despite leading in the game on three occasions, poor defending eventually cost the team.

Now sitting in third place in the group, there’s serious work to be done if we’re to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition.

One positive from the evening was the impact of teenager Glenn Middleton, who confidently scored in the first half to put his side 3-2 up on the night.

Having made just one start prior to the trip to Russia, it was a big vote of confidence from Gerrard to give him a game and his goal was a sign of real progress towards becoming a regular in the starting eleven.

Plenty of fans enjoyed what they saw of him and took to Twitter to share their praise…
