Vital Rangers reported only last week that, depending on departures, a move for Liverpool’s Harry Wilson could be the marquee signing of the summer.
The Wales international has been on loan at Cardiff City where he has had a decent if unspectacular season, however, after spending the last few seasons away from Anfield and at the age of 24, the time has come for him to follow in Ryan Kent’s footsteps and find a more permanent home – if Jurgen Klopp deems him surplus to requirements.
Speaking to thisisfutbol.com former Rangers left-back Michael Ball believes that it is a move that could make sense for both parties and that the influence of Steven Gerrard could once again be put to good use:
“Steven’s got that connection with him. He knows of him, so that personal relationship could be a bonus. The money, we’re not too sure what they have to spend, so it all depends if any players move out as well at Rangers.
“If [Alfredo] Morelos moves on, the big money that they’ll get would give Rangers the opportunity to bring Harry and maybe a few others in.”
There’s no doubt that Wilson – valued at over £14million – would be expensive, however, where there is a Ross Wilson there is a way, his namesake Harry must be sick of playing in the Championship or for Premier League bottom feeders and his talents deserve to be showcased at a higher level.
Vital Rangers Goal of the Season
Defoe v Livingston
Roofe v Standard Liege
Jack v Kilmarnock
Tavernier v Dundee United
Ball is right, if Morelos or any of the other forwards move on, there will be money there – whether or not there would be enough for Wilson, we’ll have to wait and see.
