Rangers will always have a list of players that they are watching to prepare themselves for the worst case scenario when key first-team players eventually leave.

Midfield has been the area of the park that we have seen most players linked and one such name is Coventry City’s Gustavo Hamer who, according to GIVEMESPORT, is still being pursued by the Light Blues.

When discussing the possibility of Ianis Hagi and Alfredo Morelos leaving this summer they turned their attentions to players who could still becoming in the opposite direction and revealed:

“In other areas, GIVEMESPORT understands Rangers remain keen on Coventry City’s defensive midfielder Gustavo Hamer, while Colombian forward Santiago Moreno was mooted as a direct replacement for Hagi by Football Insider in May.”

Brazilian Hamer spent his formative years in the Netherlands before moving to England and is predominantly a defensive midfielder but has qualities similar to John Lundstram in that he is capable of operating in a box-to-box role too.

Will Rangers qualify for the group stages of the Champions League?

Yes

Yes

No

No

A £4milllion fee was already said to have been agreed between the two sides but since this news everything has gone quiet, it may be that after the signing of Lundstram was secured that attentions were turned elsewhere.

Hamer still has plenty of room for development so if the likes of Glen Kamara are sold, it could be that we return to the Championship side with an offer, however, with the way that Stephen Kelly has impressed in pre-season, I’m not sure we need him now.
