It has been revealed that Ianis Hagi put his hand in his own pocket in order to secure a fast return to Glasgow.

In a further example of the commendable professionalism and great attitude of the Romanian international, Hagi arrived back as soon as possible to re-join the Rangers squad just hours before the game against Livingston on Wednesday evening.

Following what must have been a very frustrating time in quarantine for the player, he definitely hit the ground running just minutes after his introduction back on to the Ibrox pitch and the Livi game was turned on its head immediately following his significant assist for Kemar Roofe’s opener.

Quite simply, Ianis Hagi made the best possible impression which will surely see him rewarded with a start against Dundee, tomorrow.

The former Fiorentina playmaker is a talisman who is capable of producing things on the pitch that no other Rangers player can.

His speed of thought and ability to see ‘one pass ahead’ is remarkable and a major asset to Steven Gerrard’s side.

Yes, Hagi can fall out of games and appear to be on the periphery but his latest absence has underlined the massive value that he brings to his team and Rangers chance creation, overall.

Speculation

This update comes amid further links to Serie A and Roma for the son of the mercurial, legendary Gheorghe Hagi.

Reports have emanated from the Romanian press, claiming that a move worth up to £20 million has been thrashed out between Rangers and the Rome club, to take place in January:

“The Romanian midfielder is set for a transfer in the winter to AS Roma, a team that has made an impressive start to the season in Serie A, under the command of the nicknamed ‘Special One’.”

“The amount to which the transfer would amount would be approximately 20 million euros!”

Realistically, it is very difficult to view this story as anything more than speculation at this point.

Will there be interest in, and teams tracking Hagi? Absolutely.

However, talk of agreed deals more than three months before the January window opens doesn’t really stand up to scrutiny.

What is clear is that Hagi is determined to have an even greater impact this season for club and country and as his star continues to rise, that will only bode well for the valuable asset held by Rangers.
