Rangers Ianis Hagi was the man for the big moment as he stepped up for his country to secure all three points in their opening World Cup qualifier.

In the Group J clash against North Macedonia, Hagi started on the bench but he made his mark late on.

The home side took a 2-0 lead, but with less than 10 minutes to go, the visitors equalised.

At this point, the Rangers attacker had only been on the pitch for a matter of minutes.

The third and final goal for Romania came on the 86th minute when Hagi swept home at the back post, sending the ball back across the goalkeeper.

In his 15th appearance for the senior international side, the 22-year old grabbed his first goal.

It will do his profile no harm at all, coming on the same day that Lazio were reported in the Italian press to be tracking him with a view to a Summer move.

Next up for Romania is the visit of Germany on Sunday followed by a trip to Armenia to end the current international window.
