Ianis Hagi has given his first interview as a permanent Rangers player with Rangers TV (reported via The Daily Record) and has backed up the manager’s claims that there is much to be excited for going into the new season.

The Romanian international reacted to the club signing Calvin Bassey and himself so quickly in the window by declaring it a statement of intent as Rangers look to win their first Scottish Premiership title since 2011:

“It’s a positive sign that the club, even in these difficult moments, they react,”

“It gives not only the players, but everyone who loves Rangers, a positive sign that we’re back for the new season and we want to compete for everything.

“It’s really nice, I can’t wait to meet Calvin.”

Gerrard has been happy with the early business himself and echoed the 21-year old’s sentiments that getting players in early will only serve to benefit his side’s chances in the long run but that they are far from finished in the market:

“We are still chasing targets behind the scenes – we have numerous targets that we want to bring in to strengthen us and help us over the course of next season.

“So without giving too much away, it is exciting times to be at Rangers.”

Rangers have been linked with a host of players as they gear up for a return to competitive action at the beginning of August with their first confirmed fixture being against Bayer Leverkusen, the news that the Scottish Government has allowed a return for professional sport will help them when it comes to arranging fixtures but the Germans will still be several weeks ahead of Gerrard’s side in terms of preparation.

Who will provide Rangers strips for the 2020/21 season?

Gers fans will be hoping that Hagi and Bassey won’t be the last arrivals through the door at Ibrox and if the gaffer is true to his word, there will be much to look forward to in the coming weeks before a ball is kicked on the hallowed turf once again.
