Rangers have been hit hard with the news that Ianis Hagi has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Following the injury sustained against Sirtling Albion on Friday night, the Romanian international walked off the pitch in clear discomfort, to be replaced by Alex Lowry.
VitalRangers understands that Hagi left Ibrox on crutches a couple of hours after the game with a very heavy limp, giving an indication of the severity caused by the impact of what was a ggenuine attempt by two players to get to the ball.
Now, at today’s press conference ahead of the Livingston game, Gio van Bronckhorst has confirmed the news that everyone at Rangers is dreading, the injury is significant and Hagi’s season is over.
🎙️ GVB: Ianis (Hagi) needed an operation, he went for this yesterday and we will sadly be missing Ianis for the season.
I spoke to Ianis yesterday, he is positive and focused on his recovery.

With the operation already taken care of, the road to recovery starts now. Hopefully he can make a relatively clean return to full fitness in the months ahead.
What this will do, is to increase the clamour for a new face at Ibrox. Prior to this news, there was already an understanding that Rangers were interested in an attacking midfielder and perhaps someone who could compete with Joe Aribo in the ’10’ role.
Now with Hagi’s injury, that could become a priority.
