Wes Foderingham looks set to leave Rangers this summer after being told by manager Steven Gerrard that he would be third-choice goalkeeper ahead of the new season.

That was reported by The Scottish Sun on Thursday, who also said that Gerrard was willing to listen to offers for the player during the transfer window.

The arrival of Allan McGregor in the close season always threatened to displace the established number one at at Ibrox, but dropping in the pecking order below Jak Alnwick is something of a surprise.

Gerrard was lucky in the sense he had three decent goalkeeping options to choose from and given McGregor is the top dog going forward, Foderingham was never going to be happy playing second fiddle.

Some Rangers fans aren’t hugely pleased to see the 27-year-old leaving though, believing he has the ability to stay and fight for his place.
