Giovanni van Bronckhorst provided a positive endorsement of Alfredo Morelos’ initial response to their talks following the high profile disciplinary action meted out to the Colombian.

He has returned to training and appears set for the squad at Parkhead on Saturday, whilst the manager fronted that he has a role to play in the coming weeks.

Beyond that it is about what the player does going forward, in his actions and attitude that will determine his future at the club…or not.

When asked about the outcome of his meeting with the striker, GvB stated:

“We had a good chat on Sunday. He had a good week in training but also to think about his future. I had a good talk with him.”

“As I’ve said before, he’s still a Rangers player. He will be important in the next month and the season (ahead).”

“I saw a change in his attitude, how he worked. He needs to keep continuing to work like this for the coming months, to be the player he can be and the player who can give us a lot.”

How much all in the Rangers camp would love a Morelos goal against Celtic at the weekend, even more if it results in a win!

He has a task in front of him dislodging Antonio Colak from the team given the strong form of the Croatian international but it is about more than competition, Morelos needs to be ready to contribute when called upon, in addition to other players. Not like the disinterested player we saw getting sent off against Hibs recently, but the focused determined, dangerous player who can do so much for the team effort.

Gio’s assertion of ‘the player he can be’ is exactly right. Now it’s over to you, Alfredo…
