Brace goalscorer Ryan Hardie and on loan Haris Vuckic have both given their thoughts following the three one victory over Dumbarton at the weekend.

Beginning with Hardie who was making his full debut for the club, he told the Official Site that finding the net twice on the occasion was a real ‘dream come true’ for him having had four previous experiences off the bench.

‘It`s a dream come true to even be getting a jersey for Rangers and to score two goals is just the best feeling in the world. I only found out at lunchtime today that I was playing, just after pre-match we had a meeting and they named the team. I was so happy, I wasn`t even a bit nervous I was just very happy and confident I could help out the team for a victory today.’

Hardie jokes that although he’d have loved to have found out the day before the game so he could prepare more, he admits he wouldn’t have had a sleepness night because he doesn’t get nervous and in many ways his performance belied that.

As for his two strikes where he showed he can take his Development Squad form into this level (almost 30 strikes at Under 20 level this season) the 18 year old explained.

‘For my first goal Haris played a great ball over the top and I saw the keeper coming out and he got a touch to it but I`ve reacted quickly and put it home. The second one was another good ball, a cross from Waldo and I just reacted quickly and swung my left leg at it and it`s thankfully gone into the bottom corner.’

The aim now for the youngster is to continue impressing gaffer Stuart McCall and add a few more starts to his name before the season comes to an end – hopefully playing his late part in getting us to promotion and the Premiership again.

‘I hope I can keep a place in and around the first team squad now and keep doing what I can to get them promoted. I`d love to score some goals in the play-offs, that is the dream come true as a boy to be playing for Rangers first team and helping them reach the Premier League would be amazing. Obviously you hope to give the manager a selection headache but there are other players to come back from injury so there is a lot to think about for the gaffer’

One thing Hardie acknowledged was the pointers that not only the gaffer had been giving him to help him, but also the likes of Kris Boyd and he’s very thankful for that.

As for Vuckic, he was just delighted to bag his seventh goal in nine games for us but again it’s all about the team and points for him, not personal targets at the moment.

‘I am always pleased to score goals but the team winning is the most important thing – scoring is just a bonus for me.’

With Vuckic losing his man for their opening goal on the day, it’s said the first thing he wanted to do in the dressing room was see the replay of that incident given his frustration because he knows an individual error like that shouldn’t happen. And that took his focus ahead of the replay of his own goal.

‘For the first goal I should have taken my runner, but hopefully scoring that goal repays that mistake. I always want to see what I did negative before I see the positive things. I want to keep working hard so I can find more positives.’

Vuckic ended his interview with having praise for his fellow goalscorer on the day.

‘Ryan is a very quick player and he is always looking for space to run at the defenders. For his first goal I saw him with a lot of space in behind and the defender wasn’t very quick, so I put it in behind him to the space and he proved he was quicker to score a good goal. I’m delighted for him and he’s a very nice lad too.’
