The reach of Rangers and the exploits of star midfielder Glen Kamara have gone very far this time, making headlines in Vietnam.

In an article that was also published by the South China Morning Post, the Vietnam News dedicated a full feature to “Finland’s quiet threat who took stand against racism”.

The full article is a homage to story of Kamara’s development as well as a glowing endorsement of his ability from his peers.

His success at Ibrox is noted as is the chances of a lucrative move to a bigger league this Summer.

There is also an explanation of the disturbing and ugly situation that the unassuming Finn got caught up in, thanks to Ondrej Kudela of Slavia Prague in the Europa League encounter at Ibrox in March, earlier this year.

For his part, Kudela was hit with a 10 game ban by UEFA, meaning he has missed out on EURO2020.

Conversely, Glen Kamara is shining bright in the tournament.

Composure

His first two outings, against Denmark (in difficult circumstances due to the tragic Eriksen incident) and Russia, have received wide acclaim and appreciation for the clear ability on display, as alluded to in the article:

“Born in Finland to Sierra-Leonean parents before moving to London aged 12, Kamara has impressed at the Euros, winning praise for his skill in tight spaces, his knack for winning duels, and his composure under pressure.”

“He’s very relaxed all the time (on the pitch), but that doesn’t mean he’s not fighting,” Finland coach Markku Kanerva told reporters, calling Kamara “definitely one of our key players”.

Rangers fans have rejoiced in pride and admiration toward Glen Kamara, especially since March and now as the rest of Europe is watching on and learning of a hidden gem in the southside of Glasgow.

For how much longer that gem resides in Glasgow remains to be seen.
