How footballers are valued has always been an emotive subject amongst fans but one thing is clear, we all love a bargain.

For Rangers supporters, they don’t come much bigger than Glen Kamara, with the Finland international costing a much publicised £50,000 after signing a pre-contract agreement from Dundee but his performances for his country. and for Rangers in the Europa League are sure to make him a target this summer.

Football Insider has revealed that a bid of over £10million would have to be received before they would entertain selling one of their prized assets but there is no reason why the figure shouldn’t end up being over double that, regardless of whether or not he has a successful European Championships.

He is almost the perfect modern midfielder, capable of playing in different formations and to various game plans, not only does he break up opposition play and offer protection to the defence but – as we saw recently against Royal Antwerp – he is often at the start of successful attacks.

Having a midfielder who can do all the “dirty work” but is also comfortable in possession is an attractive option for coaches and managers of teams who like to play out from the back or who send their full-backs up to join in with attacks, Kamara can do it all, that he would only thrive in a more technical environment says it all about how good he is – he is too good for the Scottish Premiership.

How much for Kamara?

The report is right in that a bid would have to be “over” £10m for Rangers to entertain selling, replacing a player of Kamara’s age, quality and pedigree wouldn’t come cheap and were he already playing in the Premier League, you’d be looking at a figure five times what Football Insider are suggesting, especially if a club from down south comes calling again.
