Glen Kamara’s Finland were on the wrong side of a 0-1 loss against Russia in St Petersburg today, but the Rangers man showed his qualities once again.
He put in another disciplined performance in the engine room for the Finns, holding the line alongside Robin Lod and Rasmus Schueller.
For most of the game they limited Russia’s efectiveness going forward, but didn’t do enough at the other end.
As for Kamara, it was a case of more of the same.
Twisting, turning, feinting and spinning – receiving the ball under pressure and re-setting the play.
He can be likened to a release valve, given the unique and effective skill set that he possesses.
Following another impressive season in Scotland and especially in the Europa League, it appears unlikely that no clubs will come knocking, at Ibrox, this Summer with the player’s reputation further enhanced at this EURO 2020 tournament.
A further tantalising test lies ahead for Kamara and Finland, when they face Belgium on Monday night in their final Group B encounter.
Scouring social media post-match this afternoon, a steady stream of praise could be found, recognising the latest performance and ability of Glen Kamara:
He ended on the losing side today, but we saw a really accomplished performance from Finland's Glen Kamara.
The Rangers' midfielder completed 56/61 passes in the match; completing a match-high 92%.#FIN #FINRUS #Euro2020 pic.twitter.com/cwJvuwCViQ

I suspect we may have seen the last of Glen Kamara in a Rangers shirt.😔

#FIN #RUS
