With just one week of the January window remaining, various rumours and links will appear regarding possible sales at Ibrox – some more tenuous than others.

The message is clear at Ibrox, no sales are required and enquiries are not welcome – any suitors will need very deep pockets to take away any of the main assets in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s squad.

One such report previously from GiveMeSport, claimed that Glen Kamara would be available for approximately £10 million pounds – yes, really.

Let’s be clear, Kamara will not be leaving Rangers for Arsenal or any other club for such a price, it is a bit of an insult to suggest that such a deal is possible. Scottish champion, established player, Europa League experience, 40 caps for Finland including rave review at EURO2020. The list goes on.

The 26-year old is contracted to 2025 and therefore Rangers are in a comfortable position of being able to command a realistic true value for the player.

Far from the case that GMS had suggested with their headline:

“Arsenal consider £10m Glen Kamara as Ruben Neves transfer alternative”

They continued, “Arsenal remain interested in re-signing Glen Kamara and could prioritise a move for the Rangers star if they continue to struggle to sign other midfield targets.”

Other outlets have ran updated features on this same story, with 90min.com relaying:

“We can reveal that Arsenal have been watching Glen Kamara’s progress over the last 18 months very closely. The Rangers man has been superb in Scotland and could be really clever acquisition for the Gunners this January.”

“Aston Villa are interested too – obviously.”

Precedent

The Finland international is more than capable of playing in the Premier League and he should have his eyes on an eventual return to England, that could even be as soon as ths Summer.

If that is to happen, Rangers will be able to land a very profitable deal on a player secured from Dundee for that paltry sum of £50k and especially after the great business of the Nathan Patterson sale to Everton, cut price deals for Rangers assets are now a thing of the past, following Rangers first major sale of recent times.
