We’re only a couple of days removed from our last game against Villareal, but the preparations for our next tie are already well underway – and it’s a big one.
Hearts won’t be an easy team to overcome, but that’s exactly what Gerrard and his men need to do on Sunday, and we’re really hopeful of a good result.
Fortunately, many of our players are enjoying a great run of form, and one of those players is Allan McGregor. The goalkeeper was brilliant on Thursday, and not long after Steven Gerrard praised him for his excellent form, Gers defender Connor Goldson has done exactly the same.
The defender clearly has been very impressed by the Rangers shot-stopper.
Having a good goalkeeper isn’t just important for stopping the shots that do get past the defence, it’s also important for the defence itself. Knowing that someone so impressive is behind you must be so influential, and it’s certainly shown with our great defensive performances recently.
Goldson hasn’t had the best season, but for the most part he’s been pretty solid, and he likely would say that McGregor has been very influential in his start to the season.
Clearly, all of the defenders – including the goalkeeper – are on the same page and respect one another, and so hopefully we’ll only get tighter at the back as time goes on.
