The sight of Alfredo Morelos in a Rangers shirt once again is one that all the fans are eager to see and that looks very likely on Saturday.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst confirmed that the Colombian international is fit and ready to make his return to the Rangers squad for the Premiership encounter against Kilmarnock at Ibrox.

The update was provided via Rangers TV, but no further details were disclosed about squad issues including the situation with Ryan Kent.

On the recall for Morelos, GvB stated:

“The squad is looking good. The biggest change will be Alfredo (Morelos) will be in the squad.”

“He has been training really hard in the last weeks with the team and we think he’s ready to be in the squad for tomorrow and hopefully he can play some minutes as well.”

Indication

The use of that word ‘ready’ tells you all that you need to know.

Gio will be delighted to have his main striker available once again although it appears unlikely that we will see him in the starting line-up against Derek McInnes’ Kilmarnock team.

With Tuesday night and the return game against USG in mind, that is when Morelos will be truly needed so a second half showing around the hour mark tomorrow appears likely for Rangers record goalscorer in Europe. It has been a long time since March when he was last in action but the important thing is that he is fully fit.

The sharpness will follow with time on the pitch but knowing Morelos he will be snapping, biting and bullying opponents in his own inimitable way as soon as he steps back onto the pitch.

An almighty roar will be sounded from the stands when that happens.
