Rangers have had a great season so far, but could the second half of the campaign be even better? There’s certainly a chance of that happening. According to the Scottish Sun, Rangers are interested in a move for Bournemouth man Jermain Defoe, with Steven Gerrard clearly looking to improve his attacking options.
It’s a move that would be significant in the context of the season. Defoe is a proven forward, and the one thing that Rangers have lacked at points this term is a bit of firepower moving forward.
Defoe is a popular man amongst Rangers fans, it seems, at least judging by the reaction to a prospective move online. We recently asked Gers fans whether they’d like to see Defoe at their club, and a whopping 74% of those polled have voted in favour of a move.
Clearly, fans are willing to look past Defoe’s poor recent form and focus more on how good he has been in the past, and that’s exactly what they need to do.
Under Gerrard, if Defoe is able to recapture his form, the Gers could have a forward capable of leading them all the way to the Scottish title.
