Rangers got all three points here today but they had to work hard for it against an Inverness team who refused to give up.

With Barry Ferguson injured, Alex McLeish pushed Fernando Ricksen into midfield and brough Alan Hutton back in at right-back. That was the only change and the team lined up as they did last week against Livingston.

Rangers got off to a dream start when in form Kris Boyd opened the scoring after only six minutes, it was an easy tap in for Boyd after the brilliant Thomas Buffel done well to set him up. Chris Burke also played a part in the move but the youngster had to go off in the 39th minute.

Rangers lead didn’t last long, only seven minutes infact and it was striker Craig Dargo who got the goal. Dargo got the ball on the edge of the box and curled it past Waterreus, it was a great finish from the Caley front man.

Rangers had some great chances to take the lead again, Bob Malcolm hit a 20 yard drive which was well saved by former Ranger Mark Brown.

Lovenkrands also had a shot well saved by Brown but Rangers regained the lead from the resulting corner thanks to Marvin Andrews who put the ball in the net thanks to his shoulder.

On form Keeper Mark Brown prevented Rangers going further ahead after producing a fine save from a Thomas Buffel shot and Rangers went in 2-1 at the break.

After the break Rangers looked to be in control of the game, Brown was again in action when he saved a Kris Boyd header.

Rangers won a penalty in the 58th minute when Lovenkrands was sandwiched as he sped into the box, Boyd duly converted the penalty to make it 3-1 and to make things more comfortable.

Or so they thought, Caley weren’t ready to throw in the towel and they got a second goal through Dennis Wyness in the 72nd minute.

Caley could’ve got the equaliser near the end but Waterreus pulled off a brilliant save from Craig Dargo’s shot and made sure the three points were going home to Ibrox.

This win took Rangers up to third in the table and they seem to be heading in the right direction at last.
