Today’s Glasgow Herald suggests that former Rangers manager Alex McLeish will make a January move for our Northern Irish midfielder Steven Davis.

McLeish has a fairly old midfield with Lee Bowyer and Barry Ferguson, and is said to be keen to add some drive and enthusiasm in the middle of the park, with Davis fitting the bill perfectly.

Davis is probably the Light-Blues best player all-round, and after an initial loan-spell two seasons ago, he has now become a vital member of the first team since his permanent move last summer.

Should Rangers fail to be taken over by a new owner before January, there is a significant risk of players being sold – even Murray Park being sold – by the ruthless Lloyds Bank.

Whilst this is mere quoteless speculation, it would not be surprising to see Eck plunder our squad on the cheap come January, as we will not be in a position to hold out for decent money for anyone.

The sooner Dave King completes his takeover, the better!
