Rangers’ Scottish Championship season continued with a two-one defeat against Falkirk at the Falkirk Stadium on Saturday, a defeat that allowed Hibernian to draw level on points with the Gers.

Falkirk had the chance to go ahead within minutes when a penalty was awarded, which shouldn’t have been as Danny Wilson’s foul on Will Vaulks was outside of the area! John Baird converted this, despite Wes Foderingham’s best efforts, though.

But Rangers reacted quickly and were level a little over 10-mintutes later through Barrie McKay as he powered home a James Tavernier flick.

A fine Vaulks strike put Falkirk ahead once more early in the second half with that enough to given them a shock win, which was confirmed in injury-time when a soft penalty award for Rangers saw Danny Rogers save Martyn Waghorn’s spot kick.

Falkirk had the ball in the net again at one-one when Kevin O’Hara curled an effort, which was going in, that Baird helped into the net but as he was offside this was disallowed whereas if he’d left it this would have counted!

Craig Sibbald was already denied by Foderingham before Vaulks grabbed proved to be the winner with the Rangers ‘keeper preventing O’Hara twice more as Falkirk threatened to run riot, one of the saves he made onto the post.

Rangers weren’t without chances though, plenty came and went with Nicky Law coming off the bench to hit the crossbar with Rodgers also denying Kenny Miller and Andy Halliday as the Gers tried, without joy, to level it up with that injury-time penalty save compounding matters.

This win saw third placed Falkirk close the gap on Rangers to six points whereas Hibs are now level with the Gers at the top heading into the next meeting at the end of the year, which becomes all the more important!
