Lewis Ferguson is a player who will continuously be linked with a move to Rangers because of his family history, however, if Ross Wilson is interested, he will have to move fast.

Serie A side Calgliari are rumoured to have made a loan-to-buy offer for the Scotland international, according to Sky Sports Italy, with a pre-set fee of £3.5million if they avoid relegation part of the contract, a figure that was expected to be required whenever we have been reported to have been keeping an eye on the 22-year old.

Having come through the youth ranks at Hamilton, Ferguson is vastly experienced for a player his age and has barely missed a game since breaking through as a teenager.

With a record of a goal or assist every three games for Aberdeen, it’s easy to see why he might be attracting the attention of others, although few would have thought that Serie A was a likely destination.

From which country does Dundee United keeper Benjamin Siegrist come from?

Previously I wouldn’t have considered Ferguson as an option under Steven Gerrard given how we played at the time, however, as a number eight in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s system he would be ideal and would add to our home grown quota – as we saw on Tuesday night, he is capable of causing problems in attack whilst also helping out his defence to build possession.

The fee is a lot of money but we can’t keep relying on Bosman deals to strengthen the squad, if we could sell John Lundstram and bring in Ferguson on a cost neutral basis, I suspect most Rangers fans would snap your hand off.

This Lad is not Rangers Material at all.

Just because his uncle played for us does not mean he is good enough there is far more talented Midfield players out there.

Motherwell have a couple of good strong midfielders lets go for them cheaper half the price
and quality thrown in for good measure.
