After the announcement was made that a 12-year-old boy has been charged with racist abuse following the 29th December Old Firm clash, Rangers released their own statement that hit every target following the subsequent coverage by the main stream Scottish media.

Morelos had tormented the Celtic back-line in the fixture however, since then, the focus has all been on a gesture he made to the home fans, a journalist calling him a “waster” and after a soap opera interview with Sky Sports – in which the Colombian talks about the racism he has been subject to – the narrative was twisted into a misinterpretation story leading to the media giants having to apologise to both sides of the Glasgow divide.
There has also been the small matter of the 29-goal striker having to deal with his car been tampered with and a subsequent arrest and criminal investigation being made.
Should Rangers ban the individuals involved in Morelos abuse and criticism?
Yes
No
After it was demanded that Morelos “prove” he has been the victim of racist abuse, Rangers fans were up in arms and demanded that the club took action on those that looked to damage their club, for all that the statement has pacified them for now, many are not happy that more stringent repercussions haven’t been administered and took to Twitter to vent their frustrations.
Finally A proper statement confirming proof, but also showing how bad the journalists & pudits really are in this country. They should be ashamed of themselves.
I’ll guarantee you that nobody will get a proper apology out of this.
I hope we now remove media privileges.

Great statement, this needs to be backed up now, otherwise it’s just more empty words.

Need to take the next step and ban those responsible until they can demonstrate they know how to do their job in a balanced, fair, non-biased manner.

Fine statement but bans should have been handed out starting with the Sun and all of their “journalists” who have set out to demonise a young foreign player whose only “crime” is trying to make things better for himself and his family, it’s disgusting what’s gone on since Dec 29

Ban the Sun and Michael Stewart next pls

I don’t
It’s a great statement but the next move should be action
Revoke the press privileges and start demanding apologies before they can return, as a start

There has yet to be any comment from any of the named – or implied – offenders in the statement regarding the treatment of Morelos but it could certainly mark a watershed moment in the Ibrox club’s relationship with the Scottish press or a point of no return.
