Steven Gerrard’s start to life at Rangers may not have been perfect but he did oversee a 2-0 victory in the First Qualifying Round of the Europa League trophy.
Jamie Murphy and James Tavernier got on the scoresheet at Ibrox to give him a first leg win in the opening competitive match of 2018/19, and tonight Rangers will see out the second leg away at the Arena Phillip II and this result will define his first entry in the history books.
Having trusted Allan McGregor, James Tavernier, Nikola Katic, Connor Goldson, Jon Flanagan, Ross McCrorie, Scotty Arfield, Daniel Candeias, Jamie Murphy, Josh Windass and Alfredo Morelos as his starting line up pick for the first game, it’ll be interesting to see who gets the nod for tonight’s affair.
With Academy graduate, Glenn Middleton being particularly impressive a number of fans will be hoping he features again, if not from the start of the match to be honest. Arfield is out of this one so some changes will occur and it’s time to find out what those changes were – if there were any other than Arfield.
This is the team:
