With Rangers manager Steven Gerrard announcing this squad that will take in the Europa League Group Stages this season, Lee Wallace’s omission was noticeable for fans.
It hasn’t been a great few months for the long-serving left back as even though he stuck with us through darker days as we built ourselves back up for the lower reaches of the Scottish pyramid our 31-year-old skipper was suspended along with Kenny Miller back in April following an alleged row with the interim gaffer Graeme Murty and with the arrival of Gerrard, he was then officially removed as club captain.
He has only featured once for Rangers so far in 2018/19 as he came off the bench late on in the match against Motherwell at the end of August as we drew 3-3 and having come back into the mix slightly, seeing him dropped from the Europa League squad does probably imply that Gerrard doesn’t see him having a long-term role with us anymore.

Agree he has not had the best career. His greatest moment in a Rangers short was scoring v Celtic in 2012 to stop them winning the league at Ibrox. Before he chose to stay.

As he has been excluded from the Europa League squad, i presume that Jordan Rossiter is a long way off returning to @RangersFC’s first team. Surprised that Graham Dorrans is included but hopefully means he will be available soon.

Should Motherwell prove to be his last game in our colours – I have a feeling it won’t be but a January departure certainly wouldn’t be a surprise – having joined from Hearts back in the summer of 2011, he would leave with 248 starting appearances to his name, with a further three substitute showings. Across those games, he contributed 25 goals.
