Gerrard zeroes in on powerhouse that’ll give Rangers new dimension

|

According to the Belfast Telegraph, Rangers have opened talks with Josh Magennis as they look to bring the Northern Ireland international into the club.

The forward has got plenty of experience of playing both north and south of the border in Great Britain.

Indeed, he’s played in the top flight of Scotland whilst he most recently has been at Bolton.

However, it looks as though the Gers could be his next club as per this report and he’d certainly give us something different up front.

Our current strikers – that were actually reliable last season – in Jermain Defoe and Alfredo Morelos are both diminutive, energetic players that like to play on the shoulder of defenders.

Magennis, though, is something far different.

Tall in stature and physically imposing, he’s an aerial threat and good when it comes to hold-up play – far better than that of the aforementioned pair.

He’s not prolific all of the time, but he’d certainly offer us a different dynamic going forward if he signed.
