Steven Gerrard will ask the Rangers board to not only fine striker Alfredo Morelos, but also to donate that fine to the travelling supporters at Celtic Park today, as reported by The Daily Mail.

The Colombian picked up his fifth red card of the season against the Hoops, elbowing opposition midfielder Scott Brown after an off the ball incident.

The lack of discipline simply isn’t good enough and it’s clear Morelos’ behaviour will not change unless Gerrard and the club step in with drastic action.

And that’s what the manager has proposed after the match.

As quoted by The Daily Mail, the Gers boss said:

No more. I’ll continue to protect, support and love him (but) I’ve got to draw the line.

He’ll be punished and I’ll recommend to the board he’s fined a week’s wages. That fine should go to the supporters that came today.

There’s no doubt that Brown deliberates antagonises Celtic opponents and it’s also true that Morelos wasn’t the only player to lose his discipline today.

However, this isn’t the first time the 22-year-old has let us down and despite his 29 goals this season, it’s a situation that cannot continue without a solution.

In almost every big match this season he’s either performed poorly or simply lost his head and ultimately it has cost us points and trophies.

Hopefully he takes the fine on board and understands if he wants to be a top level player, he needs an attitude to match his ability.

What are your thoughts on Alfredo Morelos today? Have you say below…

  • Get him out at the next window.incapable of taking a telling to stay on the park. Broom behaves like that every game he plays.

    • Morelos should have went down when brown clip his heels and made a fuss and got shut bag brown out

  • Alfredo, probably should have been disaplined well before now, so i suppose it is what it is, he does need to show a lot more than he does he’s to huffy, what a waste of great tallent.

  • No sympathy for Morelos. He’s a liability that can not be afforded any longer. No excuses but how long must Brown get away with this against every team before someone in the authorities says enough is enough. The darling of the SFA right enough.

    • Has to go. Let the team and fans down again….no respect for RFC…that defence as well. ????????

  • Scott Brown taunts Gers players. I agree that Alfredo needs to control his aggression. Sadly, it affects all the other Players. Come on Alf sort it out

  • Morelos out of the team and demoted to training with the unders. After a substantial period of time he is brought back into the team in a substitute role before being allowed to start a game. If his ill discipline continues then he must be sold. I feel this is what he wants as he is listening to the rumours about teams being interested in him so feels that doing this will get him moved on. No one man bigger than the club.

    • We usually have a bet between us as to how long Morelos will stay on the field.
He has cost us before, sell him cos no one is
      bigger than our club.
Use the money to buy a striker who can stay for 90mins.

  • Absolute disgrace, not fit to ware the jearsay, clown Brown should have been off to for what lead up to the sending off and his antics to the away support at the final whistle.
