Former Rangers transfer target Ben Woodburn was one of the Liverpool youth players who Steven Gerrard claims embarrassed his first-team stars during a bounce game this week.
Liverpool’s U23s side were 4-0 up on a pretty strong Rangers side before Gerrard introduced a raft of youth players who pegged the game back to 4-4.
The Liverpool Echo report that Woodburn, valued at £4.5m by Transfermarkt, scored two of the goals as he continues to impress coaches at Anfield after a failed moved to Sheffield United earlier this season.
The Rangers manager was reported to be interested in a loan move for the Wales international during the January transfer window, although such a deal did not materialise.
He continues to be a viable option though and after seeing the youngster up close this week, perhaps another Gerrard move for him this summer is on the cards to provide competent back-up in attacking positions.
Still just 19 years of age, he is famously Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer after netting on his debut against Leeds United back in 2016.
He’s gone on to make just 11 appearances for the senior side but has plenty of time to make an impact yet, with Jurgen Klopp unlikely to introduce youth players when chasing an English Premier League title.
With 10 caps for Wales, he is clearly a talented player and Rangers could definitely do worse in the upcoming transfer window, especially if he’s already capable of tearing some of our squad to shreds.
