Rangers midfielder Ross McCrorie was the subject of loan interest this week when Scottish Premiership side tried to thrash out a January deal for the 20-year-old.

The Daily Record report that the Dark Blues floated the idea of a player swap for the rest of the season, with Glen Kamara potentially moving to Ibrox early after signing a pre-contract with the club a couple of weeks ago.

It was ultimately rejected but it does raise the prospect of letting McCrorie go in the second half of the season, with competition growing ever more fierce in the middle of the park.

The signing of Steven Davis has potentially moved him further down the pecking order in Steven Gerrard’s plans, who has started McCrorie just 10 times so far this term.

Regular week-to-week action could be a real benefit to the 20-year-old and help him convince the manager that he deserves to be included on a more consistent basis.
