Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has spoken of the key factors behind Rangers impressive gains this season, as they push for the success that is now well within grasp.

The boss pinpointed maturity, decision making, and experience as reasons why his team are getting it right this time and turning on the style in doing so.

The Gers now enjoy a whopping 23 point gap at the top of the table, with Celtic only having two games in hand following their dismal defeat at home to St. Mirren, yesterday.

When reflecting on the progress made this season Gerrard shared some thoughts.

He said, “I think over the season we have shown our maturity,”

“It’s an area we need to keep building upon.”

“We have a lot of international players who have played a lot of football. I want to see that communication and leadership in their voices.”

“I’m demanding a lot from them at the moment and that’s why I want to praise them.”

“Because we can give them a game plan, but they are going out and doing it, delivering performances we are asking for.”

“Our decision making, especially towards the end of games – we are making better and more sensible decisions.”

Gains

It is hard to deny, given Rangers fantastic unbeaten run in the Premiership this season.

The margins are visible, Goldson and company are rock solid at the back where previously they were vulnerable.

In midfield, the shape and organisation is exemplary as a base to make the unit tick, whilst they plug holes allowing the marauding Tavernier and Barisic to bomb forward.

Up front, Morelos, Roofe and Itten are very dangerous and then there’s the likes of Kent and Hagi.

The quality is shining, the decision-making is better and the consistency is increased.

The experience of the last two seasons, both positive and negative, is being put to effective use as this Rangers team under Steven Gerrard is coming of age.
