Quoted by Football Scotland, Steven Gerrard has revealed that Glenn Middleton is on the way to Holland for a loan this summer by the looks of things.
The young winger impressed many of us last season with some of his performances and it would have perhaps been nice to see him stay with the Gers for the new season.
However, it is clear that he is set for an exit and after a loan to Doncaster fell through earlier in the summer he looks set to go Dutch for the new campaign.
Gerrard revealed:
“Glenn Middleton is very close to going on loan in Holland.
“Fair play to him going for such a challenge. That will be good for his development, playing for a team challenging in front of passionate fans.”
The gaffer makes a good point, too, as this will be a great experience for the player.
The Dutch are no mugs when it comes to good players and if he can do well and win them over it could be a great springboard going forwards.
He’s one we want to see at Ibrox for years to come and if he impresses those chances increase.
