Eyebrows were raised when the announcement was made that Rangers were signing Greg Stewart in the summer transfer window, his performance against Aberdeen in the 5-0 hammering went a long way into silencing the doubters.
Stewart has been a peripheral figure so far this season, only making a handful of appearances, despite this he has still managed 1 goal and 3 assists. His surprise inclusion against Aberdeen was justified by Steven Gerrard after he praised Stewart’s efforts in training via The Daily Record:
“I think it’s important that people know it had nothing to do with sentiment why he started today. His training performances have been outstanding, the quality that he’s shown. I think he’s fitter now, he’s in better shape”.
Although there were doubts about his inclusion, there were no doubts about his performance and how happy blue noses were with his first Rangers goal and the all important second of the match.
He’s a shout for MoTM in my opinion. Looking so unselfish.
