Rangers took a big step toward the title last night in a game that that they stamped their dominance on, particularly in the midfield.

The international capped trio of Steven Davis, Ryan Jack and Glen Kamara were superb, leading by example to impress manager and fans alike.

Others such as James Tavernier and Filip Helander turned in stellar performances as well as a vital contribution from Joe Aribo to assist Alfredo Morelos’ winning goal, another fine team move that included Jack and Davis.

Steven Gerrard was very proud of how his players conducted themselves on a difficult pitch.

On his team’s performance and the goal that won the game, he stated;

“It was another fantastic team goal. Alfredo will deserve the credit for finishing it off.”

“I took him off at the weekend to have him really fresh for tonight because I knew he’d have to do a lot of running.”

“I knew we weren’t coming here to play a technical game. We wanted to really find the space and when we got into the final third then show our quality.”

“I’ve just given a little bit of my gameplan away there but the lads went out and executed it extremely well.”

“But I think we deserved that team goal because of the application we’ve given to the game.”

“Yes [Alfredo could have had a hat-trick]. I’m always looking for the little details to improve on.”

“We had another couple of really good chances. He was a little bit slow to get the second one off.”

“He had one cleared off the line. Joe Aribo had a chance to really drive into the box and score, so over the course of the game we’ve had the best chances.”

“We were the team really looking likely to go and win it. This was a tough fixture.”

Engine room

Rangers earned the right to show their quality because of the work and hard yards that were put in, especially in the middle of the pitch.

Steven Davis continues to excel at the age of 36, whilst Glen Kamara appears to be going through the gears at a crucial point in his Rangers career. His driving, jinking run in the second half almost produced a great goal from a Ryan Kent strike but the Hibs keeper saved the attempt.

Kamara’s top form will undoubtedly be attracting interest from clubs in bigger leagues.

The return of Ryan Jack has been a massive boost for the team and after grabbing a goal on Saturday, he produced a storming 79 minute display, before he was replaced by Bongani Zungu.

Jack is already in full flow, with his passing and fitness at a high level. After a lengthy injury lay-off, he will only get better as his sharpness improves.

Rangers are becoming relentless in their title pursuit and these fans took to Twitter to show their delight.
