As quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times, Steven Gerrard has suggested that Ryan Jack is one of the first names on his team-sheet for each game at the moment.

The midfielder had an excellent game for the Gers at the weekend – as did most – as we hammered Hibernian and he is really starting to catch the eye.

Indeed, he might not get the recognition he deserves on an international level at the moment but the importance to our side that he boasts cannot be overstated.

According to Steven Gerrard, too, he is one of the first players he gets into his team when it comes to setting his side up.

He said:

“He’s one of the first names that comes to my mind when I’m picking teams because I trust him in any role.

“He makes the right decisions on the pitch, that’s why he is so important to us.”

Jack has been a ferocious competitor in the middle of the park so far this season and has certainly started with the bit between his teeth.

Long may that continue.

  • Jack has been one of the best in scotland.
He will play for the national team this year I have no doubt in that. As long as he keeps up what he is doing.
He will be 1st on team sheet every week.

  • Jack is like a new Stuart McCall covers every inch of the park but he can use the ball better a great player who will just get better and better under Stevie G.
