Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos may not return to Steven Gerrard’s starting eleven tomorrow despite again being available for selection after suspension, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

The Colombian was sent off against Celtic in March, receiving a four-match ban that has kept him out of action since.

In his absence Jermain Defoe has come into the team and excelled, scoring two goals and assisting three more in his last four appearances.

He’s also forged a formidable and classy partnership with Scott Arfield, who has been reborn on the left flank.

It all means Gerrard has a big selection call to make and he reckons it will be difficult to drop in form players, refusing to confirm whether Morelos will play against Hibs or not.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the Ibrox boss said:

People are pushing for places all over the team. If you play well you deserve to keep the shirt unless we have a busy schedule and we need to manage players.

Alfredo is one who doesn’t hide it well when he is suspended as he loves playing football.

I’m sure he has learnt a lot in the last few weeks and hopefully we see that for the remainder of the season if and when he is given an opportunity.

The message to the full team is we want them to be physical and aggressive in the right way.

Ultimately who features on Sunday depends on the team Gerrard wants to go with for next week’s derby against Celtic at Ibrox.

If he fancies starting Morelos in that one then he will badly need the competitive game time tomorrow.

If he thinks Defoe can get the job done against Neil Lennon’s side then it makes more sense to keep him in the team and keep him confident.

All eyes were certainly be on the official team announcement tomorrow.

Do you think Morelos should come straight back into the side? Share your thoughts in the comments below…

  • Why does everyone think that the Glasgow Rangers are going to sell players for peanuts. When quotes for others are at extortionate prices .so behave and think again.

  • Agree with Rstorling. Total liability first to come in with a reasonable bid get rid. Be great if it was 10m +.

  • I think gerrard shoukd play defoe an morles ,if this morles last year least let him go out with some dignity for what he has did for the club no long ago every one all for him , he deffently need put morles on for Celtic game even put him on as a sub, to prove to the fans he can keep his cool

  • Moralos is a complete joke if he can’t behave his self on the pitch Defoe and Arfield would be better in the line up against hubs on Sunday moralos should go in the summer transfer window

  • If SG thinks he’s learned his lesson then give him the last half hour against hibs. Shouldn’t walk straight back into starting 11 but bring him on as a sub.

  • No he should not be selected for the remaining games icluding on the bench he is a total liability to Rangers he will not change sell him in the close season and invest the money in other players

  • I am totally bewildered by the fans who think he is a liability, he is young and allows veteran pros to wynd him up, I seem to recall that Gazza was according to some supporters a phycopath. I also recall Duncan Ferguson, who went on to greater things with Everton. Maybe Man U should have got rid of Canton, as I recall he was another hothead, oh and Suarez who was a real phyco, but look at him now. I might be a lone voice for Morales, but I like the kid. I don’t have any wish to see him go.
