Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos may not return to Steven Gerrard’s starting eleven tomorrow despite again being available for selection after suspension, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

The Colombian was sent off against Celtic in March, receiving a four-match ban that has kept him out of action since.

In his absence Jermain Defoe has come into the team and excelled, scoring two goals and assisting three more in his last four appearances.

He’s also forged a formidable and classy partnership with Scott Arfield, who has been reborn on the left flank.

It all means Gerrard has a big selection call to make and he reckons it will be difficult to drop in form players, refusing to confirm whether Morelos will play against Hibs or not.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the Ibrox boss said:

People are pushing for places all over the team. If you play well you deserve to keep the shirt unless we have a busy schedule and we need to manage players.

Alfredo is one who doesn’t hide it well when he is suspended as he loves playing football.

I’m sure he has learnt a lot in the last few weeks and hopefully we see that for the remainder of the season if and when he is given an opportunity.

The message to the full team is we want them to be physical and aggressive in the right way.

Ultimately who features on Sunday depends on the team Gerrard wants to go with for next week’s derby against Celtic at Ibrox.

If he fancies starting Morelos in that one then he will badly need the competitive game time tomorrow.

If he thinks Defoe can get the job done against Neil Lennon’s side then it makes more sense to keep him in the team and keep him confident.

All eyes were certainly be on the official team announcement tomorrow.
