In his post-match comments on Sunday, Steven Gerrard could have been forgiven for throwing caution to the wind.

His team had just turned in their most complete performance of the season, another opening goal conceded had been overturned in style, Fashion Sakala announced his arrival with a bang and the away end at Fir Park went tonto – not a bad day at the office.

As he saluted his team’s superb 6-1 win over Motherwell, the manager dropped a giveaway in terms of the approach for Thursday’s Europa League encounter against Brondby.

On RangersTV (2.25), Gerrard was prompted on the team being put in a great place for the challenge in Denmark on the back of the fine performance against the Steelmen, to which he responded:

“Sometimes, you gotta do the other thing now and bring a few people down and get everyone balanced and ready to perform again because we’re gonna need a big strong win away from home.”

After a convincing win at Ibrox last month, it is clear that there’s nothing Rangers to fear against Brondby although they should offer more in their own stadium with a very vocal backing from the home support.

Gerrard’s team know that the home side will need to come out which will play into their hands and another win will mean that the Gers can finish the job for qualification for the knockout stages against Sparta Prague in what will be a feisty clash, regardless.

Having already assessed the Danes and now bolstered by the six goal salvo at the weekend, the win is there for the taking and it is well within Rangers reach, as they look to be brave and bold in going on the offensive.
