Documents have been lodged and confirmed with Companies House to show that George Taylor has been appointed as a director of Rangers parent company.

Rangers International Football Club PLC is the ‘company board’ which sits above the day to day operation of Rangers FC which also has its own management structure, sometimes referred to informally as the ‘football board’.

Glasgow born, Hong Kong based banker George Taylor is not a stranger by any means, given that he already has a shareholding of just under 10% of Rangers.

He has been a prominent figure in terms of investment and financial matters for several years, going back to when control of the club was won back from previous hostile regimes in 2015. Alongside current chairman Douglas Park and George Letham (an FC director until recently), Taylor completed the ‘Three Bears‘ trio of investors who gave so much to restore the soul of the club.

As outlined below by Kieran Maguire from Price of Football, the appointment is now official and launched with Companies House.

There has been some speculation that Mr Taylor wishes to increase his influence but at the moment, there is no further information.

He joins Barry Scott and Julian Wolhardt as directors who are successful businessmen with a strong link to Hong Kong in terms of their professional interest and influence.

A recent statement from the club stated:

“The Board of Rangers International Football Club PLC is delighted to welcome the appointment of George Taylor as a Director of the Company.”

George Taylor is another man with a Rangers background whose credentials are genuine and well established. His appointment is not controversial or a cause for concern for the fans.

As stated above, it is the directors of RIFC that oversee the business of the football club (Rangers Football Club Ltd) which is in turn led by its board members:

Stewart Robertson – Managing Director, Andrew Dickson – Director of Finance and Football Administration, Ross Wilson – Sporting Director, James Blair – Company Secretary, James Bisgrove – Director of Commerical and Marketing, David Graham – Commuincations, Kenny Barclay – Finance.
