According to the Northern Echo, Newcastle are confident of getting Rangers manager Steven Gerrard to come to their club this summer.

Unfortunately, until the Magpies get a new manager that isn’t ours, such rumours are going to persist.

It makes me wonder, though, what they think they can offer the former Liverpool great to prise him away – look at the state they are in.

Even so, the report claims that they are confident that they can get something going and so we have to share it with you, even if we believe – like many of you reading this – that the boss will not be heading off this summer.

He’s started to put a really decent squad together now and Celtic are floundering, it would surely have to be a massive offer from the Magpies for him to even contemplate it.

With Mike Ashley at the helm, too, surely no such thing is going to come about…

  • Stevie G won’t go to Newcastle with mike ashly still running the show it would be madness don’t think that will happen

  • Ashley’s got the raging hump with Rangers after the kit & shares fiasco..so I wouldn’t be at all surprised that this guy might just want to kill 2 ???? with a very expensive stone.????????????

  • Stevie G is going nowhere, he has a job to finish here and when he goes back to England it will be to Liverpool FC

  • Mr Gerrard would be a fool to go to Newcastle and he aint no fool. An owner who wants a yes man as a manager and Gerrard isn’t that character. Rangers are in the top group of clubs in Britain and Gerrard has made it clear that he has a long term job on his hand at the biggest club in Scotland.
