Richard Foster hasn’t pulled any punches about our performance against Ventura County Fusion either following the three one loss.

The only saving grace it seems for him is that he knows we have plenty of time left to improve, and more importantly we simply must improve from our showing in the last two games.

Speaking to the Official Site after the match, he explained that had we managed to pull the game back to two all or even three all when they added the third after Bilel Mohsni’s consolation, it would’ve simply papered over a lot of cracks that the players have to see and rectify.

‘I think if we had drawn it might have papered over the cracks. We weren’t good enough but it’s still early in pre season and we have a long time to put things right. I think the only thing we can take is the fitness aspect of the game. There were a lot of bits and pieces that weren’t great and that’s something we will look at.’

Foster did pick out the use of the 451 formation in the first half, and said like all knew formations it takes time for players to adapt naturally to it, but he knows that can’t be used as an excuse because regardless of the formations or tactics used the attitude should be right, and the basics from the team should be right and formations don’t affect that.

‘They looked hungry and sharp and they move the ball really well, they caused us problem. They were quick all over the pitch and you can maybe see they are a few games ahead of us in that respect.
