Rangers secured a win over Dundee on Saturday but if it wasn’t for Harry Forrester’s injury-time winner this match would have drawn nil-nil and the fans’ frustrations would have been seen at Ibrox.

Forrester’s acknowledge the backing the fans give Rangers is always appreciated but also know expectation levels are high and if we’re not at our best the players will ‘be told’ by the fans with this also something he understands, quoted by Sky Sports he said.

‘The crowd help us so much. Sometimes they expect us to do better than we are doing obviously, and we sense that. But as professionals we have got to deal with that. We know what it’s like, that at Rangers we are expected to win, we expect to win. And if we are not doing the job that we need to be doing, we know we are going to be told.’

The midfielder scored his third-goal in as many matches when he headed in a cross from Joe Dodoo, who like Forrester had been brought off the bench by Mark Warburton in a bid to turn this match in Rangers’ favour, to keep to within a point of Aberdeen in second behind clear leaders Celtic.

Forrester admitted he wants to ‘play as many minutes’ as he can but concluded Warburton can select only so many players with him doing his best be that as a starter or one of those the boss has turned to.

‘Everyone wants to play as many minutes as possible. At the moment it’s from the bench, as a squad player you know you have got to do that. There are 23 of us at the moment and the manager picks his 11 to go out there. Whether it’s from the bench or from the start, I will do the job that’s called upon.’

Forrester should have done enough to earn himself a start in the next match shouldn’t he?
