Former Rangers star tipped to take charge at Ibrox after Gerrard leaves

|

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been tipped to one day take charge of Rangers by Ronald de Boer, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

Current Ibrox boss Steven Gerrard is only at the start of his journey as Rangers manager, and hopefully has a long way to go yet, but keeping an eye on potential future candidates for the role is always worthwhile.

Van Bronckhorst spent three successful seasons at Rangers as a player, winning five trophies at the club before making a big money move to Arsenal.

As Feyenoord manager he’s found a way to win trophies too, helping them to their first Dutch league title in 18 years in 2016/17. Now set to leave the Eredivisie side this summer, a former teammate reckons he is a good fit for the Gers one day.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, de Boer said:

Steven Gerrard is manager of Rangers and has done well.

But at some stage he is going to have the ambition to take another step elsewhere.

I think Gio would be a great fit in Scotland with Rangers. I also believe there could be something for him at his former club Arsenal, where he is highly thought of.

Perhaps not as a manager, maybe as a coach. He would have a good chance of that.

Van Bronckhorst’s career is certainly worth keeping tabs on as we move forward, but any talk of Gerrard’s departure is very premature.

It’s true one day he will likely have ambition to manage in a bigger league, likely the English Premier League, but for now he’s desperate to bring success to Rangers and has put the building blocks in place for a stable spell at Ibrox.

Fans can’t wait to see where we go next under the Liverpool legend.
