Goalkeeper Wes Foderingham and Kenny Miller were also both speaking after the lap of honour in Saturday’s game against Alloa.

Having come to us over the summer from Swindon Town, the 25 year old has been key to Rangers taking the Championship title this season and he’s had a fine debut year between the sticks, and speaking to the Official Site following the game he explained.

‘Obviously we would have liked to win the game but you can see how much it means to the fans and it is a special moment as well. The first goal was to get up and win the division and we managed to do that and we`re in the Scottish Cup Final now too, so we need to concentrate and try and win that as well. It`s a bit different to my final game at Swindon last season! I think there was about 8000 at the game. But this is just brilliant; I have come to a big club now and playing in front of 50,000 Rangers fans is massive.’

As for Miller, he explained that helping Rangers back to the top flight would definitely rank as one of his best career achievements.

With 19 goals to his name so far this year, he said.

‘It`s right up there. We said all season we wanted to get the club back to the top flight, and we`ve done that with something to spare. I`m absolutely delighted with how the team have gone this year, and its all credit to the Gaffer, Davie and Big Jim, and the constant messages they`ve been putting across to the players. They wanted us to enjoy it and play a certain type of football, and the lads have really responded. If you speak to anyone in that dressing room, they will have thoroughly enjoyed this season.’

Miller went on to say that the year isn’t over yet though, there are still points to play for to make the Championship campaign even better, and of course the Scottish Cup Final against Hibernian with the lure of a potential European shot next term as well.

‘It`s not finished yet though, and we have a couple of league games and the Cup Final, and we want to finish the season on a real high. Winning the Cup would make it a fantastic season. You always say at the start of a season that you want to win every competition, but to win the League, Petrofac and then to win the Scottish Cup and obviously qualify for Europe by doing that – what a fantastic season that would make it for everyone involved. I`ve really enjoyed it, and the manner in which we began the season told me if I played regularly I would always get goals. Hopefully I can get to 20 to make it a great season personally, but it`s been all about the team.’
